Through a combination of unfortunate circumstances, the original case can get too hot (irrespective of whether it is caused by original or aftermarket silencer). The reason is probably unfavourable turbulence (particularly with a passenger) which causes a build-up of heat at the rear of the vehicle.

To protect the side case (also Hepco & Becker cases) as effectively as possible, we recommend our self-adhesive heat-resistant 150 x 180 mm (~5.6 x 7) mat, made of special air-extruded e-glass filaments (100% free from asbestos and ceramic fibre). Stable temperature in contact with heat up to 180C (365 F).
